Making your own custom designed and fabricated headboard can bring lots of personality to a bedroom. Less expensive than most purchased headboards, a fabric-covered style also provides softness and a comfortable resting place for reading.

Though creating a custom headboard will require some basic know-how and tools, you'll be surprised how easy it is to make.

Come join us and we'll show you how to design and create a unique upholstered headboard that can be used on any bed!

Sewing Workshop and Q&A Session
(bullet point...) Date: Saturday, October 9, 10am

If you need a basic idea of how to do enough sewing to get by and to mend your own clothes, then this is where you can learn the basic techniques. By the time you finish with this workshop, hopefully you will not be afraid to sew on that button, mend that seam or hem that skirt. If you can master those three things, then you can do most of the little mending that comes up, while building your skills for future projects.

As this will be a ''hands-on'' workshop, please be sure to bring your sewing machine with you!

This workshop will be limited to 15 participants

Do you have a pile, a bin or a drawer of fabric scraps? Maybe you've thought about making an ipod cover, a rag rug, or just stuffing the whole stash in the freezer to increase the refrigerator's energy efficiency. You probably keep saying ''some day I'll find a use for all these scraps,'' but the pile keeps growing.

Learn how to turn any fabric into a beautiful custom piece of art for your home or as a gift. It is simple and inexpensive.

Reupholstering can be a great alternative to buying new furniture for your dining room, living room, or bedroom. You can reupholster almost any type of furniture that has been covered in fabric, and, if you are up to the challenge, you can save a lot of money by doing it yourself. Many people decide to take up the challenge of reupholstering because it:

  • saves time spent on ordering custom furniture
  • allows you to choose the exact type of fabric and cushioning you want in your piece
  • allows you to salvage antique furniture or furniture that has sentimental value
So, before you kick that old chair or couch to the curb, consider renewing that old furniture with some brand new upholstery. Like sanding and refinishing, reupholstering an old chair, couch, or cushion can really give new life to some of your older pieces. And, it can give you a chance to express some of your own creativity, in a hands-on fashion!
